I entered a contest recently not expecting to win because I’m notoriously bad at ever winning drawings, etc. In fact, I’ve participated in One World One Heart for the past couple of years, entered a few dozen blog contests (or more) during the event and won a total of one item (for both years). Of course, if I were a really good person, I’d say that the real prize was visiting all those blogs, connecting with new people and finding others that share my passion for art. But, let’s be honest, who doesn’t like winning a prize?
Well this year, I won something that’s probably made up for all of those contests I never won before. It also probably means that I’ll never win another contest in my life, but, what the heck.
And, unlike the Cylons, this one actually has direction to it. My mom recently decided to get even more serious with her blog, Artists and Crafters Supply Community, and made a daily schedule for what she would blog about. I’d neglected my blog for so long that I thought I should probably do something similar. She was brave, though, and posted her schedule publicly, but I wasn’t near as brave.
I signed up to participate in ADO’s Traveling Doll Project. Art Dolls Only is a team that I help start on Etsy–we wanted a place for those of us who make dolls for art rather than toys or children’s dolls. The team has grown by leaps and bounds…so much, in fact, that we finally had to limit our membership because it was becoming more than we could really cope with. We wanted a team that’s close-knit where most of us know each other and we feel comfortable working together. And, even more important, we wanted a team that we could promote and advertise for easily. People with a likeminded goal of promoting our dolls, our Etsy shops, and our team.
