Just peachy
We’ve got two figs, one pear, two Japanese plums (loquats) and two peach trees. The pear didn’t produce anything this year although it looks quite lovely. The loquats were hit pretty hard by our late freezes this year so all the buds died before they even had a chance. I think we ended up with about 5 good loquats when they ripened. But both of the peaches and figs have lots of baby fruit on them. Now, apparently the figs won’t be ripe until later this summer but some of the peaches on one tree are starting to mature quite nicely. Unfortunately, we’re having a drought this year and watering is limited to very short periods of time so our fruit (and tomatoes) aren’t really getting enough water. I’m hoping that they can hang on with what little we give them until we can get some precipitation around here.
Happy Birthday Jessica
My youngest daughter’s 5th birthday was today. We’ve gotten into a tradition of doing some kind of family adventure for their birthdays, sort of like a mini, local vacation (or “daycation” as my girls like to call it). We went to the Bob Bullock Museum last year for Alexandra’s birthday. This year, their grandma from New Jersey was down visiting during Alex’ birthday so we did some sightseeing downtown, around the Alamo, etc.
Judy and Jessica
Ok, this really more of a test run to see how well I set up coordinating my flickr account with my blog. Thought I would use an “awwww” picture. My daughter Jessica (on the right) with a small bjd (Dollzone BB Judy, 27cm).
I really am still here…
Whew! Time waits for no man (or woman), right?
And the Winners Are…
Had to wait until after my eldest got home from school, which wasn’t easy. But the winners are:
Journal: Syeda, comment #162
Barry, the Grixie art doll: Sarahle, comment #131
Both winners have been emailed. If I don’t hear back from them by tomorrow night at 8p my time (Central), then I’ll draw new names.
Thanks everyone for participating!!
The Halloween Thing
We didn’t buy costumes this year, especially since the prices are pretty ridiculous and most of them are borderline disposable anyway.
My Daughter’s First Assemblage Piece
So I thought it would be appropriate for my first post here to share my daughter’s foray into assemblage dolls. (more…)
