Daisy
I’m baaaack!
I actually finished this lovely Bride-with-an-attitude last year but didn’t get the put the final touches on her until now. I just listed her in my Etsy doll shop today. Inspired initially by the flower, I tried to make her hair look sort of like daisy petals. Inspiration after that came from the song:
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do.
I’m half crazy, all for the love of you.
It won’t be a stylish marriage.
I can’t afford a carriage.
But you’ll look sweet on the seat
of a bicycle built for two.
I don’t think she’s too happy about riding a bicycle. Probably because she doesn’t appear to have any legs. Air-dry clay, vintage wooden bobbin, wooden base with clay, vintage lace over wire for the arms and acrylic paint.
And, happily, I’m in the middle of working on another doll and have a Steampunk sketchbook/journal and a notebook in the works!
Tales of Terror
I was hoping to be writing up a post about a work in progress–specifically the ADO Quarterly Challenge piece I’m doing for Copy the Masters. I know what master I’m copying and even have gathered some of my materials. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to actually start working on it yet. So instead, I’m going to do yet another “find” post.
Baaaaa?
Originally, I planned on doing this massive post about all the various works in progress that I’ve got in my studio. I finally came to my senses and realized that A) the post would end up being thousands of words long and B) nobody really wants to read a massive post about my well-honed skills of procrastination. Plus, let’s face it, most of these projects are languishing in my studio because I have no inspiration whatsoever to complete them. That makes for a seriously lame WIP post–”Look at what I haven’t finished yet. My plan is to ignore it for several more years and then eventually cannibalize it into a different project so that you never get to see it completed.”
I decided I should do a WIP post about something I’m currently working on, instead.
One World One Heart: Ride the Magic Carpet
The Birth of the Purple Bathing Beauty
Well, she’s completed! And looking as lovely as can be expected for a large, purple monster with a rather interesting concept of fashion.
Update on the Purple People Eater
Got a little more work done on her and did a major change to her face but she’s still not painted. I’ll be breaking out my commercial acrylics because I hesitate the use handmade egg temperas on a doll I’m going to sell without trying it out on a practice piece first. I’m thinking she’ll be dry enough tonight for me to paint her. That should give her enough time to dry before I add her hair. As a reminder of what her face looked after the last round of sculpting:
